MUCA Government Relations

Government Relations

MUCA represents the underground utility industry on a range of issues on the state and federal level.  The association staff has over 40 years of combined legislative and association policy experience.  The staff coordinates with our membership committees that provide technical guidance on issues that the industry is facing in real time.  Issues that the association deals with include access to funding on the state and federal level for infrastructure, regulatory issues, safety and training requirements, tax fairness and other issues facing the unique needs of the underground industry.

By working collectively as an industry, we are able to present our positions to the regulatory community, file comments on upcoming proposals, tap expertise that allows us to be part of the process rather than sitting on the sidelines.  Additionally, MUCA has a full-time presence at the State Capitol and works along with our National Association on federal issues.  By being part of the fabric of the legislative process, it allows us to shape the outcome of what the State legislature and the U.S. Congress is doing.  They know our industry and we provide them with vital information as they develop policies.

Funding for infrastructure on both the federal and state level is the lifeline for many of our companies.  Increasing the amount of investment for projects is a top priority.  These funds mean jobs for the underground industry!!
