Next MN Regional CGA Meeting

Are you tired of being billed for damage claims several months or even years after a projects completion? Having issues in the field with mismarked, no-locate or abandoned facilities? Join your peers in “Shared Responsibility” for the next Minnesota Regional Common Ground Alliance meeting on July 12 at 10 AM at Korterra, 18946 Lake Drive E, Chanhassen, MN 55317

Uncle Ralph and His Favorite Hat!

I see MUCA Members everywhere! In attending my family reunion last weekend in Watertown, South Dakota, I came upon my Uncle Ralph from Arizona, and immediately recognized the logo on his hat!

I asked him where he got such a sweet hat! He told me it was given to him by my other Uncle Don, who has since passed. He said Donny told him he got it from the dealer in Graceville, MN… probably after purchasing a piece of agriculture equipment. It’s Ralph’s favorite hat.

Uncle Don’s descendants run the ‘family farm’, also known as ‘The Lazy Q Ranch’ in Chokio, Minnesota. This year it has been registered and recognized as a 100-year family-owned farm. A rarity these days.

It is a small world after all!

Having trouble finding a pipeline of quality workers? Help Us – Help You… by joining Project Build!
MUCA is combining forces and resources with over 25 other construction organizations to create a multi-year, multi-media campaign to promote and raise awareness of the great careers available in construction. We want to share the news that not everyone needs a four year degree and a ton of college debt to earn a great living!

We will accomplish this through community and state events (fairs, tradeshows, job fairs), online media, school outreach, and ad campaigns.

MUCA believes we will all benefit by pooling our resources to support Project Build. Your Board of Directors has agreed to support this effort. We are asking every Member Company to contribute $200 to reach the ‘Association Trailblazer’ level.

To contribute and learn more, use this form.

Thanks to those companies who have already contributed! HD Supply Waterworks, Forest Lake Contracting, Beemer Companies, Hancock Concrete, Magney Construction, Geislinger and Sons, Ess Brothers & Sons, Ellingson Companies, St. Paul Utilities and Excavating, Quam Construction, Elcor Construction, Interstate Companies, and EJ USA.

When Employee Mental Health Poses a Direct Threat to Workplace

July 27, 2017, 7:30-9 AM
Stinson Leonard Street
150 South Fifth Street, Suite 2300
Minneapolis, MN

Workplace violence in the United States was once referred to as ‘going Postal.’ Employee mental health issues pose a direct threat in all U.S. workplaces. For example, in 2015 Minnesota reported approximately 20 work-related assaults in a week.

Join Stinson Leonard Street Attorney Bob Overman when he presents “When Employee Mental Health Poses Direct Threat to Workplace –Employer Action Balanced by Employee Rights.” Bob will discuss worksite and individual causes, rights, and issues under the ADA Amendments Act and liability imposed by federal and state OSHA General Duty Clause. In addition, he will provide proactive measures that employment managers or small business owners can take to abate workplace violence while maintaining employee rights.
