A Heartfelt Note of Thanks

For those that may not be aware, I spent the majority of my time January through March 10 living with and caring for my Mom as in-home hospice.

I would not have been able to spend those last precious days with her if it were not for the grace and understanding of MUCA’s Board of Directors, the staff at Ewald Consulting, and the support of my friends and family.

I learned many life lessons from my Mom over the years, but some of the greatest came in these last months as her health declined.

Mom spent her life teaching piano. As a child, I was very fortunate to be played to sleep with great classics, including Claire de Lune by Debussy. Click on our photo below to watch her playing it back in 2011 at age 86.

We laid her to rest on my favorite holiday, St. Patty’s Day. Thanks to all who supported me through this difficult journey with Mom.

MUCA’s Celebrates 40th Anniversary!

Above: Adam Hanson (l), son of former MUCA Executive Director Jeff Hanson, chats with Charlie Wilson, Minnesota Utilities & Excavating.

Formed in 1977 by Stan Hemphill, Tom Schany and Lawrence Gordon, MUCA’s official date of incorporation as a 501(c) 6 trade association is June 7, 1978.

A good crowd of around 60 people stopped by Joe Senser’s Sports Theater last week to mark MUCA’s 40th Anniversary.

Displays of photos, awards and old publications were available for reminiscing, all the way back to Issue #1 of the Underground Press magazine!

Lots of laughter, good food, prize drawings and 40th Anniversary logo pint glasses were in store for all who attended. Thanks to everyone for stopping by! We will continue to mark this milestone throughout our 2018 events.
