Special Session Update

It’s been over seven weeks since the legislature adjourned. Legislative leaders did seem willing to pass a comprehensive transportation funding package and a bonding bill to invest in state infrastructure in a special session. The problem is only the Governor can call a special session.

Unfortunately, instead of leading the group to consensus and getting the state’s business done, the Governor decided to immediately put stipulations on the special session that the House and Senate Republicans rejected as non-starters.

In related news, the state budget officials announced on July 12th that tax collections for the 2016 fiscal year were up by $230 million more than projected in February.

So why are ‘We the People’ being held hostage in terms of jobs, growth and needed maintenance of state infrastructure – especially when the coffers continue to overflow? I invite you to contact the Governor and ask him. (651) 201-3400

Pass Through Claim Agreements: An Essential Tool in the Contractor’s Toolbox

Stinson Leonard Street, 150 South Fifth Street, Ste. 2300
Thursday, July 28th, 7:30 – 9:00 AM

Contractors of all tiers, and other stakeholders, pursue and defend claims on impacted projects. To recover extra time or money under a contract, a lower-tier subcontractor or supplier needs to pursue the claim directly against its contracting party. Often, the parties jointly agree to pursue recovery from another party further upstream( pass-through claims), while also liquidating claims between or among the agreeing parties.

Join fellow professionals for this informative seminar and discuss the essential terms needed to make a liquidating agreement effective and how to best use pass-through agreements to successfully manage claims.
