Let’s Talk Funding!

The Clean Water Construction Coalition (MUCA is a Steering Committee Member) reports the House Energy and Commerce Committee approved the Safe Drinking Water SRF Reauthorization.

H.R. 3387 is a reauthorization measure that substantially increases the annual funding for the Drinking Water SRF program. The bill authorizes $8 billion over a five-year period.

It has been almost two decades since the Drinking Water SRF program has been reauthorized.

Contractor Call to Action 1: MS216D Stakeholder Review Meeting

Tuesday, August 22, 10 AM-3:30 PM
MnDOT, 3725 12th St N, St. Cloud

For those contractors that have experienced issues in the field with utility hits, mis-marked, no-locate, or abandoned lines, or damage claims from contracted collectors going directly to your insurance, this meeting is for you.

MUCA has been working with Duininck, Inc. to add contractor protections and recourse into the MS216D Law. Last session, we got House File 2719 introduced (see language here). A Senate version is in the works. For our efforts to be successful, we must have a strong showing of contractor unity and dedication on this effort.

We need contractors willing to work with the MS216D Stakeholder Review group to find solutions to our common problems. One contractor is not enough! They need to hear from all of us!

Please email Stephanie to confirm your availability to attend or send a representative to the next MS216D meeting in St. Cloud. Failure to support this effort will continue to cost you tens of thousands annually in dealing with these issues for years to come. Now is the time to act!

Contractor Call to Action 2: MnDOT DBE/Workforce Collaborative Meeting

Wednesday, August 16, 9-11:30 AM
Minneapolis Urban League
2100 Plymouth Avenue N, Minneapolis

The Minnesota Dept. of Human Rights will speak to the newly released goals for women and minority workforce participation on state construction projects. As reported here two weeks ago, they have significantly increased goals in many areas. Make your voice heard on these unrealistic goals — THIS IS THE PLACE!

They’re also going to introduce the contractors selected for the 35W/Lake Street pilot project — with special attention to their plan for engagement and participation for DBE and minority/women workforce.
