Governor and Legislative Leaders Meet as Deadline Looms

Let’s face it, our government is broken. The governor agreed to sign the legislation proposed, and then line-item vetoed the funding for the legislature in hopes of getting them back to the table to re-negotiate what he didn’t like in the bills he just signed.

They are meeting today to try avoiding both a lawsuit by the legislature and a government shutdown on July 1.

I’m fairly certain this is not how things are supposed to work. Meanwhile, we continue to work, wait, and watch for this drama to be over. Perhaps not until the next round of elections.

Site Visit Thanks!

I got a bird’s eye view of Elcor Construction’s project in Rochester last week. This replacement project is updating pipe that last saw the light of day in the late 1890s. This project is one of the first in the ‘Destination Medical Center’ funding passed by the legislature last year. Thanks to Matt Smith, Dan and Cory Penz and their team for the invitation and time spent. More photos and information will be published in the fall edition of the Underground Press.

Membership Visit Thanks

Thanks to Jim Robertson at Interstate Companies, Trish Carlson at Forest Lake Contracting, Jake Jensen at North Pine Aggregate, and Carl Maki with Minnesota Utilities and Excavating for sparing some time for me to learn more about your organization, attend to your needs, and share information on MUCA’s efforts on your behalf.

I wanted to share an email I received from Tony Miller with WSB regarding the Sunram Construction project in St. Anthony Village that was highlighted in the spring edition of the Underground Press.

“Hi Stephanie,

Thanks for the copy of the spring 2017 Underground Press! It is great to have positive stories in the media for the projects we work so hard on. I sent our client and partner (the City of St. Anthony Village and Rice Creek Watershed District) digital copies of the article. Both were pleased to see the article and showcase the project.

If you need anything from me or WSB in the future please feel free to call or email me.
