Clay Shoot Classic Fun

Over 90 shooters joined in the fun at the Horse & Hunt Club on Oct. 6th. The weather held out for the first hour before the drizzle started in.

Damp ducks aside, congratulations go to the Northern Dewatering Team for taking home the new traveling trophy! Kudos to John McShane and his team for a fantastic performance!

MUCA Member Update

MUCA Update on 216D Efforts

MUCA Members Jason Duininck and Jerome Vikse, with Duininck, Inc., MUCA lobbyist Troy Olsen, and AGC Lobbyist Lisa Frenette, met with officials from the Office of Pipeline Safety (OPS), and the Department of Public Safety (DPS) on September 22 to discuss our efforts on amending 216D to add contractor protections and recourse to the One Call Law.

Both DPS and OPS are in support of our request to establish a contact database. While the law requires utilities to give contractors as much information as possible, the reality in the field is that contractors are not receiving ‘as-builts’, maps or locations. MUCA seeks to remedy this by forcing the utilities to provide direct contact information on the One Call ticket to hold utilities accountable for mis-locates, no-locates and abandon lines. This is just one of our ‘asks’.

We’ve also met with Gopher State One Call to discuss implementation of the database. Our next step is meeting with the Revisor’s Office to redraft our original bill, HF2719.

Stay-tuned for further developments or contact Troy or Stephanie if you have questions.
